SMC Through The Years
People don’t believe us when we say we’ve been around since 2001. Wayback Machine to the rescue, fuckers!
April 3, 2001
SMC was originally written solely by Chris Zammarelli, and it had a weekly format with some minor daily updates. This kinda sucked…
November 27, 2001
In July 2001, SMC switched to the current set-up, punchline format, lovingly ripped off from “Weekend Update.” This is the earliest archived home page featuring the new format.
January 22, 2002
By the way, this design was minimal not only on purpose, but also because the webmaster still hadn’t learned how to do web design at that point.
November 20, 2002
By November 2002, SMC had changed its name to The Caucus out of fear that our name was too vulgar for people to mention us on CNN. (Never mind that we were too obscure as well.)
February 6, 2003
We also began publishing at TheCaucus.net, and we may still own the rights to that URL, in case the New York Times wants to spin off their political blog.
October 22, 2003
In October 2003, Dan Filowitz came aboard as an SMC writer. (So did Chris’ wife, briefly.) Suddenly, the site became consistently funny.
May 20, 2004
After a brief stint as CONK! Politics, we changed our name again to TalkStation. This was meant to be part of a greater political hub type site, hence the title.
April 4, 2005
By November 2005, TalkStation had closed up shop. However, this link to April 4, 2005 contains a really funny joke about Nickelback.
June 27, 2007
After our year-long “hiatus,” we began posting jokes again in November 2006 on BlogSpot. We moved back to Suckmycaucus.com in July 2008, and the rest, as they say, is not yet archived on the Wayback Machine.
